Granvue is located in Wellswood, a quiet residential area of Torquay with good access to the local community.
The building has seven bedrooms which are offered to those in crisis and are under referral of the Torbay and TeignbridgeCrisis teams. The service is also available to people who are experiencing challenges or a potential crisis, and are seeking support.
We seek to provide support to people so they can work through the difficulties they might be facing to improve their wellbeing. Alternatively, we also support people to have access to more intensive support, depending on their needs.
Granvue provides accommodation for both men and women, and provides a place where we can work together with each person to support them. The house has a communal kitchen, dining area and lounge, in addition to a garden, with views of Torquay and to the sea.
The house is located at the top of a steep driveway which may make access for people with limited mobility more difficult. However, whenever possible we are able to offer ground floor bedroom and bathroom accommodation to people with limited mobility.
Granvue’s staff team has a range of experience and skills. We aim to help people to recover at their own pace, enabling people to reach their goals and have a greater sense of wellbeing. We employ people with the qualities and experiences to work with compassion, integrity and enthusiasm.
Granvue is staffed 24 hours a day. Staff can provide support whenever it is needed, when issues arise, or on a planned basis.
We focus on self-management, so support is given to help people to develop knowledge and insight into what works for them. People are encouraged to lead or take an active part in their recovery plans.
Granvue provides a friendly, hopeful atmosphere in which we create a safe environment conducive to promoting recovery.
People who are supported by Granvue are requested, when able, to take an active part in the day-to-day running of the house.
Our aim is to provide a home from home, so the following is encouraged:
The support offered by staff is flexible and can be tailored to individual needs.
We expect everyone to be respectful of each other’s needs and differences, and hope that supportive relationships can develop. We encourage people to develop their strengths, interests, hobbies, and plans for the future.
People may also wish to work on self-management of medication, diet and nutrition.
